Friday Pins!

This weeks pins are all about pretty summer drinks.

A White Sangria - White wine, peaches, nectarines, oranges, and strawberries

Red Head In Bed -- blend of strawberries, sugar, citrus vodka, lime juice &riesling. have to try this!

Strawberry puree and champagne! mmmm

This is hilarious and I for sure need to purchase it.  Reminds me of one of my favorite things to do with Jeff, sit on the patio, forget the world and drink a beer.
Mango Cucumber Wine Cooler - Mango, Cucumber, Sauvignon Blanc, Gingerale & mint.

Which one do you suggest I try out this weekend?
Happy Friday friends & Cheers to a great weekend!

A weekend in Indy...

Our future home.
Our  Future  Home
It is now starting to get incredibly real that Jeff and I will be moving in together in the next month.  We will be leaving the comforts of our parents, of school, of Illinois.
So we spent the weekend in Indy and had a really great time.  I had an interview on Saturday...which will hopefully bring a big announcement later this week!  We apartment hunted, which was a HUGE bust and will lead us back to Indy this weekend for apartment hunting part 2. We had an incredibly nice dinner downtown; followed by a great evening in the city with the man of my dreams.  We went to an Indianapolis Indians game, drank a couple beers and had a great time.  Went to a couple down town bars and sat and talked for a long time about what is to come the next few months.  I am so excited to start this life of mine, to get out on my own and have a career and a future; but I mostly excited about spending that future with this guy.
Alright but enough with the mushy.
Guess what, I TOOK SOME PICTURES this weekend!  I mean, I only took a few and I didn't have my camera so they are phone pics.  But still, people this is progress!
A lovely dinner at St.Elmo's!

At the Indians game...and look what we can also see...LUCAS OIL!
We ended up moving to that section across the field that is empty...it was much nicer than being crammed next to a family that was kind of rude.

The view from our new seats and look that's our hotel!
One of my drinks from the night.  A white sangria.  It was lovely and refreshing, but lacking in white wine and size.  I am for sure going to make my own sometime very soon. Recipe....White Wine (I had this one made with a sauvignon blanc.), peach juice, sprite.  I want to make it with all the same but add some pears, apples, grapes and strawberries...a sangria needs to have fruit!  And a lemon and orange wedge don't count!

And the delicious water in the lobby...every day it is a new flavor.  The day we checked out it was honeydew and cantaloupe!  And it seriously is the most wonderful tasting thing ever!

Happy Happy Monday to everyone.

TGIF Pins

FRIDAY?!?
It is just me or did this week go by kind of fast?  I can't believe it's already Friday.  I have some good pins this week.  It's all about being girly and fabulous this week. I am currently wishing I had more money to spend on lovely little things.
But before that...I am ssoo excited for the weekend to be here, maybe that's why the week went so fast?  Since North Carolina isn't happening this year Jeff and I are moving to Indy; and tomorrow we are going apartment hunting, out to dinner with my grandma here (YEAH, be jealous!) and then out downtown.  I am also excited because we got a great deal at a great downtown hotel.  So guess you could say I am excited... I am excited to hopefully find a place to live and also spend some quality time with Jeff. Our schedules are so opposite that we spend less than an hour a day together :(   But it could be worse, so for that I am thankful.
Alright...alright...I'm done.  Here are the Pins! Happy Friday Friends.  &Thank you so much for reading.
I love Barbie.

This fall I am going to invest in a great pair of riding boots like these.

Lovely little bows

And pretty poppies to finish us off.

Happy Friday and Happy Pinning!

Guilty Pleasure

I was watching How I Met Your Mother - a favorite show of mine - the other night.  Ted was going to Love Solutions to hopefully find his soul mate.  He discovered that he and an engaged woman had a great love score and they shared the same guilty pleasure song.
That got me thinking...I have the WORST guilty pleasure songs... included are;
Wilson Phillips - Hold On For One More Day
Spice Girls - Wannabe  (YES, I will forever and ever be a fan of the Spice Girls...like I say, Spice for Life)
Jewel - You Were Meant For Me. (A good ballad is good for the soul.)

Looks like I am stuck in the 90's and early 2000's. I am.  Absolutely. 100%.
What are your guilty pleasure songs?

What I wore Tuesday

What did YOU wear today?  It was ssooo hot and muggy today that I really did not want to get dressed or leave the house today; unfortunately I had to go to work, so this had to do.  But I did wear my hair up off my neck, so that helped some.
I was literally outside for one minute while we took this picture and look at my face, glistening...and not in a good way! YUCK!  I love the heat, but this is a little much.

Oddly enough everything today is from NY&Co.  Pants, top, cardigan, even my camisole   :)
NY&Co is truly my favorite store. <3

Happy Tuesday all.

Hp7...all the rage

I will admit, I am not on the Harry Potter band wagon.  Never have been.  I am one of the select few that has not read any of the books or seen any of the movies.  I know, shocking right?  But with HP7 breaking records...ummm how can people be more crazy about this movie than The Dark Knight?  But I guess they are.
So should I make a Harry Potter weekend and watch them all and then go see the new one?  Fantasy and wizardly stuff doesn't appeal to me much, but I guess this has to be good.
Thoughts?

Happy Monday!

Demolition Derby, anyone?

A nearby town was having their annual community fair.  We didn't have anything else to do, so my parents and I went.  We told my brother we were going and he told us about the Demolition Derby and that one of his buddies would be partaking.  Alright, we thought, could be fun and interesting.  We had never been to a demo derby before.  WHOA.  Oh my god, this event was unlike any I had ever been to; I almost felt like I was on another planet.  I was completely out of my element.  But all in all it was a fun time.
Look at how crunched at that car it.  The "officials" were keeping a close eye on it and the white car that was ramming it because they were concerned that the nose of the white car was all the way up to the drivers seat. EEpp!  But everything ended up fine. No injuries, just lots of crunched up cars.
This car was hit so hard its back end went over the concrete barriers.

This is my brother's friend.  This was his first derby and unfortunately he had a problem with his car and ended up getting picked on by the other cars.  He didn't last too long.  But look at all that flying mud.  We certainly were glad we sat up at the top of the bleachers...mud was flying every where.
And the car being shoveled off the track.
And this nice gentleman was something else.  He was sitting two rows below us and was the best source of entertainment while we were waiting for the derby to start. He witnessed his "best friends" wife at the derby with another man.  He took a picture of the two of them and sent it to her....then the man she was with started yelling and the three of them were verbally fighting the whole time.  I am no genus by any means...but lady, if you are cheating on your husband don't take your boyfriend to your towns biggest event! It was seriously hysterical to witness.  Classy folks out at the derby, I am telling you!

Happy Sunday!

Friday PIns!

Woohoo it's FRIDAY! But what I can not believe is that it is already JULY 15...WHAT??? I am seriously in shock at how fast the month is going.  And since today is July 15 that means yesterday Jeff and I celebrated our 8 month anniversary.  Whaaaaat? Seriously friends, time flies, make the most of it.  8 months seems so short and long all at the same time.

But anyways, back to program here.  Happy Friday, here are my favorite pins of the week!

I have fallen victim to this, ever since I decided to make my blog a little more public I have been tweeting just to share my blog.

Anyone who knows me, knows that a big gorgeous bow makes my heart stop. ohgoodness do I love a good bow.
So sweet

And this last one I found on Pinterest, but for some reason it is being odd and I can not repinn it of like it. So I am copy&pasting from a website....but readers be warned I cried like a baby after reading this.  Made me miss my Bradley Dog.

"Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, “To Meredith” in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, “When a Pet Dies.” Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays In your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I am wherever there is love.
Love, God"
EEPPP! Is that not the sweetest thing in the entire world? There really is nothing like the love you feel for your pet. Gosh. Well I can not end on a note like that so, here a couple more. It was a slow week for me on Pinterest, working so much takes away from my pinning time :(

Sexy sexy socks! mhmm

I die.  This is literally too good to be true.

Happy Friday! Happy Pinning!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Mmmhhhmmmm I love to bake!
Today I made a favorite treat for my dad; pineapple upside down cake & cupcakes!
Ingredients....yes I used a box mix, the recipes I were finding used box mix.  But instead of the water that the recipe called for I used the pineapple juice.  That gave the actual cake a pineapple flavor. Recipe and directions at end of post.

The cupcakes.  In the bottom of the cupcake pan I melted butter and added a spoonful of brown sugar then added my pineapple wedge and a cherry.

Finished product, a delicious cupcake!

The cake! My dad doesn't like cherries so I only put a few on there.  I would have preferred much more.  But same deal for the cake, in the bottom of the pan before adding the cake mix I mixed together a concoction of melted butter and brown sugar then added pineapple rings and cherries.

MY dad and Jeff have already had two cupcakes a piece! They are giving rave reviews!

Recipe for cake or cupcakes
1 box of yellow cake
1/3 cup of oil
1 cup of pineapple juice or water
3 eggs

Topping
3/4 cup of brown sugar (I would actually recommend using a cup or even 1 1/4 cup)
6 tablespoons of butter
Pineapple rings
Cherries

Pre-heat oven to 350 (I put the colt butter in the pan and threw it in the oven while it pre-heated. Melted the butter perfectly.)
Mix cake ingredients together
Mix topping together, evenly layer on bottom of pan or cupcake pan
Add cherry and pineapple ring or wedge
For cake bake for 32 minutes.
For cupcakes bake for 17 minutes

Cool for a minute, flip upside down...and ENJOY!

What I wore Tuesday

What did you wear today?  Here is my outfit.

Plain black dress from Old Navy and my new favorite necklace from Van Heusen
Pretty simple day for me :)

Happy Tuesday

What do you like to do in your free time?

via

I was answering an e-mail...an interview type and e-mail.  The guy had asked me several questions and the final being "What do you like to do in your free time?"  And I was like...ummm...immediately what came to mind was; Pinterest, read blogs, write my blog, watch tv, go on dates with my hunny, dance randomly in my room or the bathroom while I get ready, shop and take naps....but those are all TERRIBLE answers to an interview question.  I mean yeah I go on walks and feed the fish a couple times a week with Jeff, but how lame do I sound saying "I love to go on walks!" ha!

I have been telling myself that I need a hobby, aside from baking, I can hardly call it a hobby because I only do it on occasion.  I used to make jewelry, but my tastes outgrew my price range and my creativity came to a hault.  So friends, what are your hobbies and what do you suggest for me?  Help!

The night we toasted to our new beginning

For almost a week now Jeffrey and I have been talking about the future and where we are going and what we are doing.  It hurts my heart and my pride to say this...but we will not be moving to Charlotte come September.  And I think this is something we both have known for a while.  When my job fell through we both kept our hopes up...but I think it was in the back of both of our minds.  We finally had the "talk" and decided that with out jobs we can not move 700 miles from home.  Boo.  So being mature and responsible adults we went on a date, put down a couple of drinks and made a decision to move to Indianapolis. We still are jobless...but we are working on it.  And I am once again thinking about grad school.
My love
Idontknow what is up with my awk. face, but this drink is MY FAVORITE drink ever.  It is made with cucumbers and a orange infused vodka. Yum.
My delicious Blackberry Margarita !

So the night Jeffrey and I toasted to our new beginning...and it was a good night.
We went to dinner at TGIFridays.  Our dinner was delicious and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the summer weather, then we went to my favorite bar downtown and enjoyed a couple drinks before going to see Horrible Bosses....which was hilarious! I recommend it for sure!
We handled making our grown up decision in a grown up way.  I am very proud of us.  And while I don't know what the future holds exactly I do know we are doing the right thing.  It sucks...a lot...to not be moving to Charlotte.  But I know Indy has lots in store for us.

Happy Monday!

Friday Pins

Happy Friday friends!  Even though this has been a short week, it still feels like it has dragged on and on and on.  I am so thankful it is finally the weekend.  Just have to get through today.  Tonight I am going on a date with my hunny.  Dinner and a movie.  TGIFridays (it is Friday after all.) and Horrible Bosses.

I am the most excited for Jennifer Aniston. She is one of my favorites and I can not wait to see how she plays this role.

Here are my favorite "Pins" of the week. Enjoy!

I love the color combos and as a huge "doodle-er" I love it!

Grace Potter says it best.... "ooh la la" The bows, the color, the heel...to die for!

I need new glasses..these would be perfect

How lovely, classic, elegant is this? I am even swooning over the color.

Happy Friday.  Happy Pinning!
